Meet Freddie Mercer

Okay, the little bugger has a name!
Thanks so much to Annabelle and her daughter Em who suggested,
"Freddie Mercer".
Runners-up were
"Snedley" (from Miss Sandy) , "Chester" (from digitdiva) and "Sheldon" (from Marilyn).
My hubbie and the secret panel of 3 expert judges
decided that Freddie Mercer fit his look well and was unique because he now had a respectable last name .
Freddie is now quite pleased with his new name since he has been called "slimeball " all his life!.
The little "somethin somethin" will be in the mail shortly.
I want to send the three runners-up something also.
Thank you all for every kind suggestion and comment.

Fashion Camp

Once upon a time, many, many years ago my Mom taught me to sew.

flickr photo by wook nanny

I learned sitting upon her knee on a Singer 401. It's one of the best machines ever made.

I sewed for fun , I sew for 4-H, I sewed for college, I sewed for cleaners, customers, costumers and kids!

I recently was asked to teach sewing.
It was the right time and for the right person, so I said, "Yes".

I envisioned class to be like this.
Little hands busily and NEATLY stitching away.

A place for everything and everything in its place.
HUH!
Here's what it was like!
Crazy wild designing going on!
We made fabric necklaces, purses, aprons, dolls and brooches.
The place was a mess. We had to dig through fabric piles to find the scissors at the end of each class. Lots of fun, lots on energy and now a nap!

So here we are...Easter week with 15, 6 to 12 year olds for "Fashion Camp"

Karla and Beth have put together a "bling your bird house challenge".

This is a SELF-linking and SELF-swapping challenge.

Karla's Cottage and Gathering Dust.

There you will see a list of all the other bird house fanatics that will be posting photos today.
Here's mine...well kind of....

This cute little hand painted one was done by my hubbie,

He's not here today so, I get to post his houses that he did for me on my blog!

Another Blinged Birdhouse

If I were a gnome, living in the woods,
in the late 60's and wanted a house that had a psychedelic feel,
yet blended with the environment.
This is what it would look like!

We usually have some cute name

for the creatures that are posted throughout our home

but this little guy is without one.

He sits perched on top of this home, but nameless..................
Why don't YOU name him!
Leave him a name and your link on this post.
I'll have my hubbie choose the name he likes and
we'll send you a little somethin' somethin'.
Really, a GOOD somethin' somethin'.
I'm going to extend this giveaway until Sunday the 30th.

Happy Easter

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.

2 Cor 5:17-19 NIV

Spring Nests

Spring time has officially arrived

and artists like Sleepy hollow craft company are creating

cute little nests like the one above.

Sweet Dream Studio created Little Miss Flora sitting in her pink basket below.

This cute little chick is Princess Fiona by Little Pink Studio.

All over the blogs, nestling habitats are being created and brought out to
decorate
for the season.

They are stitched, found, painted, knitted and sculpted.

This cute little bluebird by Needle Noodles watches over her eggs.

Here in California fruit trees are blooming, tulips bursting, and vineyard vines are sprouting new growth.

So here at my house

what do I have for my cute,

little nest for the season like everyone else, you ask?

Hibiscus and Cinderbob!

Junkettes

So what does one do when they have bin after bin,

box after box,

room after room of junk...I mean stuff?

Why spend hours color co- ordinating it into smaller boxes of course!

It began as junk I decided I would never use and could pass on.

Now that it is displayed in these cute little boxes and after hours of touching each piece approxiamately 6 1/2 times each, I am fighting with myself about keeping them!

It all has now become "important stuff".

I have even named them,

"Junkettes"

Well, in the next few days you can find these "junkettes" at Etsy.
A Red Junkette, Yellow Junkette, Blue Junkette, etc.
(note to Dad and brother who "will not understand ". You can use this great stuff to make very valueable art )

Anniversary

There I was, fresh out of college, a young Design major.

When I wasn't creating for myself, I was designing costumes for others.

But atlas, there comes a time when a woman cannot be satisfied any longer with clowns, gorillas, knights and soldiers.

I wondered what was out there?

Was there a prince for me?

I prayed.

Oh Lord..............PLEASE bring me the Man of my dreams..................

Then one Christmas noon, life brought a dramatic twist.

Santa showed me the man

Well, twenty two years later ..........

We are still dancing through life together!

HAPPY

ANNIVERSARY

HUBBIE !

Looking forward to the next twenty two!

Bunnies

One Easter morning when I was a child, I awoke with glee to find a beautiful decorated basket waiting for me on our fireplace hearth.

An over sized, colorful, woven wicker basket in bright pink, purple, green and yellow. Nestled in the green plastic grass were the holiday goodies.

This years was a Barbie doll, some hair ribbons, gobs of jelly beans and a HUGE Chocolate Bunny! I played with the doll, wore the ribbons, nibbled on the jelly beans but saved the bunny.

I am able to delay gratification!

Well, the time came a few days later to open up the candy box and enjoy the milk chocolate bunny that I had saved for its special moment.
As I opened the box and carefully removed the bunny........I gasped......the entire back had been licked and chewed away!

flickr

The culprit?........... my little brother!

The turkey had been pilfering off my stash since he had already eaten his on Easter Day!

He obviously had not achieved self control like I had.

So here are some cute little bunnies for Easter. These are the kind that your little brother can't eat!
You can find them in our Etsy shop.
