OCJD

Out of a half sheet of Watercolor paper you can fold a small journal. (8 pages)

I thought I'd try it in a new medium and of course that would be fiber!
I had begun purging my house of excess stuff, attempting to simplify.
I can easily toss pots, pans, toasters, ovens, but I have to save twisties, junk mail, broken jewelry, bottle caps, etc.
I had finally decided that unless it was really cool and larger than 6"x 6" then out it went!
So what was I thinking when I thought I'd try making a miniature book?
2"x 2 1/2"
Now every small piece of anything has become fair game!
What am I to do?
Is there an appropriate name for this besides
Obsessive Compulsive Junk Disorder?

One World~One Heart

It sits before me.
The golden glow beckons my name.

I slowly remove the lid, anxiously anticipating what I might find.

Breathlessly I begin to remove the shimmering contents.
Each color, each texture, each shape, I ponder.

I continue removing the contents in the box until it is empty.
Well almost.

Ahh Ha!
There they are.
Seeing the silver glistening in the light, the coolness of the handle I can anticipate.

I can't stand it any longer.
I reach inside and grab them into my hand.
Holding them in the air, I head to my studio

Hours later I emerge.

So glad you stopped by.
Leave me your name and make sure I can find you.
On February 12, 2009
I'll draw the name of the winner and
my heART will become yours!

Now, hop on the Gypsy caravan and enjoy all the stops!
You can also stick around and see more of what I'm up too here or better yet, link me and come back later.

Self: one's being, inner nature

Material Girl spends 3/4 of her day photographing herself.

I'm not sure if it self indulgence, self awareness, self enlightenment, or self assurance.

It certainly is not self conscious.

If you asked her it is self explanatory.

She is an artist.

?

Could someone explain to me what this means?

"... he crafts his sculpture in ways that communicate the fragmentation and wholeness one faces on the solitary journey with and against the elements. "

Blog-aversary today!

This blog is
One Year Old

One year ago I begged Burbank Baby to teach me how to blog after having first discovered Sandra Evertson's blog. I spent the next week looking at EVERYONE on her blog roll. Burbank Baby obliged and attempted to teach her old mom a new trick. I joined my first swap with The Garden of Pink Shadows and signed up for One World On Heart. I was hooked! I have meet so many amazing artists and friends. The biggest problem I have is trying to explain to my kids why it's ok for me to meet face to face, give out my mailing address and refer to them as friends.

My studio and living room are bursting with the beautiful gifts that I've received. Although there is always room for more. When the doorbell rings, Hubbie and Material Girl just look at each other and say, "probably another box for Mom".

I love it!

A big "Thank You" for making this year so much fun and giving me an excuse to hog the computer each and every night!

I decided to give this special wand to the winner. I have to warn you though it is slightly defective. No matter how hard I try the stupid thing won't get hubbie to do the dishes! Hoping you have better luck with it than I!
The winner is:

The beautiful cake was created by Maryam at Icing Dreams. You must go see more of her amazing cakes at her website here or Flickr here.
Maryam, thank you so much for taking the time to send me this beautiful photo for my blog-aversary. I can enjoy it without my thighs enjoying it also!

Boopsie Daisy

One of the many accomplishments I would like to do in this New Year is to decorate more in my own home. Seems I'm always decorating for someone or something else. Just like the cobbler whose children went without shoes, so goes it in my home.
I'm sure many of you are aware of Missy at Boopsie Daisy
(how stinkin' cute is that name?).
These are pictures of her decorated holiday mantel.

Here is some of her photographic art that she's known for.
This is as close as you will get to me talking about food on this blog. I once thought of naming it...no recipes here....

Don't you wonder if Boopsie Daisy used to get in trouble for always playing with her food?
I love her photos! What color!
Check out more of Missys work on Etsy and Flickr.
