Alice In Wonderland

Are you ready?

Only 2 more months before this movie comes out.
Tim Burtons visuals look brilliant. Makes me want to live there. The black and white drawings of Wonderland characters I did and asked hubbie, Dave the famous artist to color. He has gotten so good at working with his Wacom Bamboo.

We went to see Avatar this last weekend. If you haven't seen it yet you must go. The graphics are AMAZING! This is not one to wait for in DVD or you will miss the 3-D impact. That is what makes the movie.

Fabric Flowers

My women's bible study group came over on Monday evening for a Tea and Posies party.

We made fabric flower corsages while sipping tea and eating these cute little pumpkin cupcakes that Janet baked. I had tables set up, all my "stuff" pulled out, and candles. We ate, laughed, and created.

This project is so satisfying. Everyone had a successful finished pin... no mistakes. And I am happy to say no one burned my house down either. After having 5 kids and 4 pets, I usually stay far away from candles!
If you want to host your own Tea and Posies party. Here are some great directions that Calamity Kim wrote out. If you go to her blog you can see more of her great work too!

Fabric Flowers

Tonight I went to a workshop my very most creative friend, Maire put together titled,
" Posies, Cupcakes and Tea".
She served tea and little mini cupcakes.
Ten gals left hubbies, kidlings and puppies home so they could gather together to wave fibers over flames.
Marie had made up an example of an Anthropology inspired necklace.
Also, shoe clips. She made the "clip" with a bobby pin on the back. Clip earring backs would work also.
Here is the tray full of finished posies.
If you want instructions of how to create these, go see Calamity Kim. Kim wrote up a great instructions and has wonderful examples on her flickr site.

A Mad Tea Party

The preparations began.

Colors gathered, textures collected and features refined.

Through the "looking glass" she peered once again.

She had remembered the way.

It was always difficult to discern in the beginning.

But slowly as her eyes adjusted, things began to show more clarity.

She hurried to the garden spot to find the table was set.

Tea was prepared.

and the pastries were ready.

She squealed with delight as the guests began to arrive.

After tea she strolled through the garden,

back to the giant toadstool that she had remembered.

Upon arriving she gazed upward to see if Mr. Caterpillar was still perched on top.

Much to her delight, the years of smoking hookah had not stunted his growth.

He had kicked the smoking habit altogether.

And there in all his glory he sat upon the toadstool.

Until next year.....
