Charms

Some sweet treats for International Charm Day.

This was such a great idea by Amber Dawn.
Let's do it again next year!

I did these out of buttons, old jewelry findings, piping, beads and a paper clip.

Yum!

Garter

I made up this bridal garter then it occurred to me, why in the world do brides even wear them?
Here's what I found:

"The garter-throwing itself derives from a bawdy ritual called "flinging the stocking."

In Britain, the guests would playfully invade the bridal chamber.

The ushers grabbed the bride's stockings; the maids; the grooms. They took turns sitting at the foot of the bed flinging the stockings over the heads of the couple.

Whoever's stocking landed on the bride's or the groom's nose would be the next to wed." excerpt from OurMarriage.com

Wouldn't that be an interesting honeymoon night!

How funny is that!

This is made from something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Have a vintage hankie from Grandma, a corner of lace from Mom's dress, and button from a great Aunt? Send them my way and I'd be happy to create for you a custom design.

Stubborn

Sheri DeBow did this painting.
This morning when I was doing my devotional, I couldn't get it out of my head. This spells out my walk in faith better than I could ever put words to!

Recycled, Reimagined

"Creative Avoidance"
def. Creating something to avoid the mundane.
"Mundane"
def. Working on non-creative sewing, housework or anything that pertains to the kitchen!
Before

After.... being recycled and reimagined.

This one is off to live with Janet, my friend the encourager.

Opera coat

I've never had much interest in opera.

In fact I'm not sure if its correct to say,
"I've never had much interest in
the opera
or just, in opera".

I saw this design and realized I have a coat that reminded me of it.

The fact that I own this beautiful vintage wool coat should be enough of a reason to attend one someday.

The entire coat is covered with a silk cream couched design.
It has a distinct 1920's cut.
Very Erte'.

Ferrini Gal owns these shoes.

Are they to die for?

So I may have to come up with an opera to attend otherwise it's off to musical theater.
Do you think I could wear this to Wicked?
After all it is green!
(Disclaimer: I had so much fun editing these photos that the colors are all over the board. I didn't realize it until I posted them all together. But you have to admit, they do look rather cool!)

Hankerchiefs

What to do with a bin of old hankies?

Yes, I said a "bin" of them.

A box of pins?

I love the large quilter pins.

I can feel them, I can see them and I can usually find them.

And some spare time to play around with an idea?

No cutting.

Just pinning and stitching.

I'll show you if it turns out!

First's

"Everest Luna" is going to make her debut in mid May.
The first child for for my brother and sister-in-law.
I went down to Hollywood this weekend to present them with this gift,
for God's gift to them.

Found out that this was a first in many ways, first child, first baby shower,
first diaper my brother had ever touched.
Hah, but it won't be the last!

This is the second "diaper cake" I've put together. The other one is here.
