A Mad Tea Party

The preparations began.

Colors gathered, textures collected and features refined.

Through the "looking glass" she peered once again.

She had remembered the way.

It was always difficult to discern in the beginning.

But slowly as her eyes adjusted, things began to show more clarity.

She hurried to the garden spot to find the table was set.

Tea was prepared.

and the pastries were ready.

She squealed with delight as the guests began to arrive.

After tea she strolled through the garden,

back to the giant toadstool that she had remembered.

Upon arriving she gazed upward to see if Mr. Caterpillar was still perched on top.

Much to her delight, the years of smoking hookah had not stunted his growth.

He had kicked the smoking habit altogether.

And there in all his glory he sat upon the toadstool.

Until next year.....

Free Motion Embroidery

This is as close as I have come to "free motion embroidery".
The idea of painting with thread intrigues me, but I seem to kill my machine whenever I try it!
Ever so often I get brave again and make an attempt.
These flowers really don't count...feed dogs were up.
Any suggestions I would gladly accept.
I'm ready to try it again.

Wine Auction Art

This is a 4' x 6' canvas I did
for the Napa Valley Wine Auction many years ago.
The grape leaf is painted on canvas with acrylic, cut and attached with stuffing underneath to create a relief. The veining in the leaf is stitched to add dimension. The vine branch is collaged with different textural fabrics.
I just came across the photo and remembered running out of black paint for the background. My newly acquired daughter (adopted age 9 at the time) headed to the store to pick me up more.
Upon returning she informed me that they only had "Mars black" not "Midnight". She hoped that would be OK.
That was when I knew she was in the right family!

Do you know what day it is?

Oh my!

I am so thankful for my blogging buddies. When one falls the other is always there to pick them up.

Bloggers are like a alarm clocks, reminding us of important dates.

I almost forgot what an important day today is.

Fortunate for me I checked in with Funky Art Queen.

Today is NOT just Father's Day.

Today is Summer Solstice!

And you know what THAT means!

Yep, It's
TODAY!

Don't forget to wear your hat and bug repellent.

Wood ticks can be nasty.

My Sewing Machine

Why do I use it everyday?

Well, if I didn't have my sewing machine I'd have come to no good end.

Boy, am I grateful I learned how to use one!

Thank you Lola...Again for finding it.

Does the word exist?

If Webster's does not record a word, does that mean the word does not exist?
If you say the word to a Doctor and detect a slight glimmer of amusement in his eye.
Does that mean you have just enlightened him with your intellectual prowess?
Or does he think you're a "dork"?
The word in question is
DISABLEMENT
As in "He has a disablement."
or
"I have a linguistic disablement".
I may have to wear the "DORK " crown for the day.
I have made 30 crowns, therefore I can wear one a day for a month!
Actually they are for the Napa Valley Hospice fundraiser.
Created with felt, sequence and lame'.
What wasn't stitched together was glued on with
It dries clear and will hold onto felt!

Note: I did find the word on-line. So can I use it while I wear the crown?

So what if I have a disablement with my linguistical morphology!

Artists' Emporium

Have you seen this?

is offering original handmade art from some of my favorite artists like

Pat Berryhill

and Pat Winter to name a few.

When you purchase one of the art pieces you are helping to
"exert the power of art for good".

A portion of your purchase goes to one of a selected list of charities
So come on...
Do it for the kids!
