For the love of Fabric

Why do I love textiles?

It's because you can do this with it.

And this, this and this.

One World One Heart

It's that time of the year again.
A time to spend every waking hour, for the next 3 weeks on a magic carpet ride to every blog participating in
Lisa was ingenious coming up with this great idea of reaching out and visiting fellow artisans.
This is the time of the year my kids hate me for dominating the computer.
While I expand my visual horizons I am stunting there ability to Facebook!
I love it!
In the 3 years I have participated, I have found so many friends across the world and have have the opportunity to meet many in person.
And yes, I have even spent time with the happy, giggly, Whimsical Bohemian herself.
So here you go.
You know the drill.
Comment and you're entered.
If you need to e-mail, I will add you to the mix.
The drawing will be held on February 15.

The RED Party in Hollywood, California
is scheduled for
February 20, 2010.
Tickets are on sale now. This is a great event that helps finance the arts for under privileged children.

My hubbie, Dave the famous artist was asked to do the art for the invitations this year.

Life Through Art is also in need of auction items.
Bloglands, queen of charms, Amber Dawn
has hosted a "charm swap" for this years "storybook" theme for the auction.
I can't wait to see how it turns out. I know it will be wonderful!

If anyone would like to donate auction items or cash you can see information here.

This is my brother Jeffery Brooks, president of Life Through Art Foundation, a cool guy with a big heart.

This is Jenny Doh, creator of , rock star of the craft world, past editor of many of Stampington's magazines.

This is my brother, Jeffery and Jenny.
Two adults with a passion for kids, the arts and and the healing power behind it.

Life Through Art Foundation will be one of Crecendohs charities of choice for 2010.
Jenny's launch of "Art Saves" items is scheduled for March.

Angels and Devils

The class assignment was to create different characters.
We studied facial expressions and discussed how certain features could inspire different moods.
This is what they did,
Angels and Devils!
Angels and devils also adequately describes the class overall, third grade. The fear of adults is not longer with them. Pushing any and all boundaries is the protocol.
Just before Christmas they were should I put it?
A room full of 24 barking, 8 month old puppies.
When the teacher walked back into the class I'm not sure how she knew it had been a bit ruff. Maybe it was my eyes rolling back into my head that may have been the sign of it not going well that day. When I returned the following day I had 24 hand written apology notes on my bag.
The best one was, "I am sorry for crawling under my desk and throwing paper at Jorge. I hope you forget about it".
It wasn't until the last class, in the last 5 minutes, at a point of desperation,
I played a quick game of, "Simon Says".
It worked!
For the first time in 6 weeks they were focused and following directions all at the same time. Not one was under a table, tattling on a friend or spinning in circles.
Yippee, one more trick up my sleeve!

These collages are a few of the stronger pieces from the class.
It just goes to show, if you want a fresh approach to your art; spin around 5 times, drop to the floor and crawl under your table. Come out the other side and retrieve a random color of tissue from your neighbor, talk loudly as they tattle on you but glue it to your paper quickly to retain property rights.
This will insure a truly wonderful piece of art.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall....

Who's the fairest of them all?

No, me.

It's me.

Ahh, me.

Nope me.

You who. Me!

Hellloooo....... Me!

It's amazing how many hours a monkey can spend with a mirror.

It never occurred to me how attracted I am to chandeliers until I went through my photo collection. The first three are from private estates.
The last three, colorful, whimsical, ribbons, bows, glass beads, fake flowers and junk jewelry ones are all from
The Gardenseed in Danville, California.
A "must stop" for anyone in the area!
I am hoping that by the time this is posted, "BOB" the man, has fixed my poor s..l..o..w computer.
