RED Party 2010: Amber Dawn's charm bracelet

I just returned from the RED Party in Hollywood.
It was great.
I'll get pictures up soon, but I wanted to show you what the amazing Amber Dawn hosted and created for the auction first.
This "storybook" themed charm bracelet.
How cute is this?
It was one of a handful of items to receive multiple bids. I spoke with the winning bidder. The second she won it she literally was the first at the checkout stand.
I'll post soon who all participated in charm making soon.
I am off to Texas now.

RED Party 2010

I'm off to Hollywood!
Going to the RED Party.
Meet me at the there this Saturday.

Besides cloaking Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in RED, rolling out the RED carpet, lining the silent auction tables with RED hot items and making RED hot money to fund the arts for under privileged children I also need some leads on a great yarn shop in the Hollywood/Burbank area.
Anyone know of any?
I want something like these by Wearables OK on etsy.

One World One Heart Winner

The random number generator was 193.
So the winner for the One World One Heart giveaway is
The glass glitter photo is from Jenny's etsy shop.
Um, can you feel some "glitter therapy" coming on?

Year of the Tiger

February 14, 2010 begins
the year of the Tiger
on the Chinese New Year.
I thought I had entered the year of the Cougar
on my birthday
but I was quickly advised that I had missed that era
and was entering
the year of the Jaguar.

My kids gleefully tell me the next phase will be that of

I'm not sure how I feel about all of this.

The Uniform Project

When you're as cute as this,
you too could wear the same black dress for
365 days
and still get a date!
The Uniform Project is the brain child of Sheena Matheiken.
Beginning May 2009, she pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion.
The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India.
At this post she is on day 283 and has raised $53, 861.00 and has put 149 kids in school in India.
Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day she reinvents the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which are vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies.

Paper Gowns, artist Lisa Griffith

This paper couture is by Lisa Griffith.
The dresses are fashioned out of regular tabloid paper with color xerox prints that Lisa created.
I just about fell out of my chair when I found these. The workmanship is outstanding, the photography superb and it is just brilliant creativity at its finest.
Each gown is titled and the copy paper images are thematic.
You can read more about this project at Papier Couture.
