Free Motion Embroidery

This is as close as I have come to "free motion embroidery".
The idea of painting with thread intrigues me, but I seem to kill my machine whenever I try it!
Ever so often I get brave again and make an attempt.
These flowers really don't count...feed dogs were up.
Any suggestions I would gladly accept.
I'm ready to try it again.

I'm afraid I don't have any tips--I just can't get the hang of it yet:( I want to...but I guess it takes more than wanting to...maybe practice, practice, practice?
Your flowers are beautiful and I'd make them 'count'!

I like them just the way they are... I just got a machine with feed dogs that drop, it is such fun.

WOW Do I like these or what. Great colors and love the stitching. Sharon PS only suggestion and I was told this and it worked for me move faster with the machine speed. I found that helped me. I always warm up on scraps before and that seems to help too.

If my experimentation turned out looking like that ... I'd be experimenting DAILY!

I agree, the flowers are wonderful and I usually FMQ with the feed dogs up. I've seen people quilt slow and some quilt faster than I'd run my machine in a straight line! Myself, I vote for slow, so I can make my hands keep up with the machine.
