50

Barbie turns 50 today!

Wow, seems like yesterday when when I'd pull her out and begin creating the her house with the many carpet samples I had just convinced my father I needed to return home with from my grandfathers furniture store.

(She had a 25 room mansion or at least as much room as I had cleaned up on my bedroom floor)

She was cool!

Ken, well he was HOT!

OK, I was 6, but at least I had enough sense to know that Skipper's boyfriend Scott was a dork!

Through the years with her ability to age well,

she eventually made her way into high fashion where she became

Bob Mackie's muse!

But it wasn't just Barbie who has improved through the years......

Ouch!

If you haven't seen "Cougar Barbie" yet this cracked me up.
Until I realized I too turn 50 this year!

Now it's not so funny!

Barbie is the reason I started sewing. I'd spend days designing, and hand sewing her gowns. I love Barbie.

Ken is HOT!

OMG! I forgot her birthday. I still have all my original barbies. Their hair all ratty from neglect.

Great Post! Great Memories!

Love it..Love Barbie and all the fun hours of dressing her, having her go on dates with Ken. I had the Barbie dream house(made out of Cardboard back then..)I had the Barbie Campus and the Little Theater..soo much fun, those were the "good old days"..

How FUNNY!! "Time to slip into something more comfortable!"

*snork*

And I'm turning 50 this year too. I never had a Barbie, but I'd play with them at a friend's house.

Thanks for the giggles...

You crack me up! Hey I think that's my barbie with those sun glasses! I LOVE this song! I just went to the mailbox and had the loveliest surprise. Your poster came SQUEAL! I love it! Thank you for the little butterfly too.

This is such perfect timing. I am speaking at a conference on the 18th for artists to talk about the benefits of blogging and etsy for Networking. One of the topics I am covering is donating your art to worthy organizations, and how blogging gives you that window. I am going to bring that brochure you tucked into the package and share the wonderful work they do.

Thanks again lady. You always inspire me.
