Fancy Nancy

What do you get when you when you mix brightly colored fabrics, a boa, ruffles, beads and a tierra with a papillon?
(That's a fancy french word for butterfly)

of course!

I made this costume for my cute little friend, Anika.
Her mother is Nicole "scissorhands" my hairdresser!

Life Through Art Foundation: Charm Swap

The fabulous Amber Dawn aka "the Queen of Charms"
is hosting a storybook charm swap for RED,
annual fundraiser in Hollywood California.

The theme this year is Storybook.
If you head over to Amber's site and sign up. She has all the rules set forth for the swap.
More fun stuff and artistic opportunities will be coming up for this event that raises funds to give under privileged children the opportunity to experience the arts.
And now for some wonderful storybook inspiration from some of my favorite etsy artist.

Steampunk

This guy literally fell out of the sky in front of me about a month ago.
I loved his steampunk look, so I'm including it into my personal makeover file.

If "he" were "me" or "I" were "him", what would I wear?
I'd begin with this great jacket and bloomers from Lovechild Boudoir

I'd never be scene without a pair of co ordinating goggles by Neverwas

I'd top off my outfit with a hat by porkshanks

And I'll finish with these spats from Maides Treasuries.

I realized after finishing this wardrobe collection it all would have fit into the scenes from a

Wild Wild West

and I can remember the first one with Robert Conrad and Ross Martin.
That was way before Kevin Klein and Will Smith hit the big screen.

All Things Pretty

I'm still making notes for my personal makeover at the end of the year.
I'm adding these to my wardrobe file.
I want to wear a top like this:
With a skirt like this:
I want to go to the grocery store in this and...

Oh who am I kidding?
If this is a true makeover, I plan on never stepping foot in a grocery store again.
Therefore, I will be sitting at my computer, ordering from Safeway.com while sipping a chai latte in this:

Then I will walk the dogs through the park in this:

Before going out to dinner in this:

bobby pin flicker

I check my blogger feed because it interests me to see what people are searching for and what drove them to my site.

This is what I found today.

Thorndike, Maine arrived from google.com on "Running With Scissors" by searching for

And I was linked!

I actually have no idea how to create one of these, but I had two younger, little flicker brothers and I bet they still remember how.

Topsy Turvy Design

I don't know what I love the most about Kim Brown-Dye's designs.
Her millinery work, her costumes and styling or her photos.
Are these all to die for?
She sells her work at Topsy Turvy Design on etsy.

Recycled and Revamped: Dog sweater

Won't Pita be the talk of the park sporting her new recycled, revamped sweater.
What was once her human sisters hand me down, has now become her latest fall fashion.
A cream colored, acrylic cable knit, has been cut up and restitched to fit her tiny physique. Embellished with ruffles around the upper shoulder and bordering the hemline for added style.
She has added hand crocheted flowers to accent her eye color which can be changed out in different colors to match her mood for the day.
See you at the park Pita!

Garage Sale

This was our newspaper copy ad.
"We are packing up and moving. However, we are leaving behind some great Halloween costumes, vintage hats, books, art, kitchenware, and much more.
Garage sale begins Saturday, October 17th from 8 am to 12 pm
Please no relatives.
Only perfect strangers, acquaintances and friends that won't give items back to us later. "

It didn't work.

Glam Ma still came by and took stuff home.

Sorry Dad, I tried.

These way cool graphics were done by Julian Baker .

She has even more work on Flickr at: they will see me .

Just think how many customers we would have had with ads like these!

Art Pillow

This is a print from hubbie, Dave the famous artists collection.
It's printed onto cotton fabric and stitched down.
I ripped strips of fabric and finger gathered it onto the edge.
The wooden animals are from on old necklace that bit the dust.
This was an instant satisfaction project:
quick , sweet and cheap.

"Doga"

Dog + Yoga = DOGA

Just looking for ways to reinvent myself at the end of the year when I turn 50!

Barney and Pita can't wait to begin, but I'm afraid it will just have to go into the "think about it" folder for now.
